Behind Berna’s Dressings… we are an Irish family producing natural and quality salad dressings. We blend fresh ingredients together resulting in a delicious dressing for everyday salads and cooking too! We offer an honest alternative to mass produced dressings with clean ingredients.
For 18 years, Berna and her husband David ran a much loved delicatessen called Thyme Out in Dalkey, Co. Dublin. In the early years, she began selling her dressings over countless salads and sandwiches. Customers loved them so much, Berna decided to bottle them for sale!
Since selling the deli, we have rebranded the range as ‘Berna’s Dressings’, producing them by hand in small batches in Abbyleix Co. Laois. It gives us great pleasure to be able to continue producing our dressings for our customers and new customers too!
In 2020, their son Oscar returned home from New York due to Covid and joined the family business full time, helping with sales and digital marketing. Hopefully the mix of a youth and experience will make for a successful 2021.
Berna currently has 3 dynamic combinations; Basil & Lime, Honey & Mustard and Chilli & Lime, each creating their own unique vibrant flavours.
Berna’s Creations
For Berna’s first creation, she needed a new dressing that would differentiate her from the crowd. She experimented, trialled and tested until… (voilà !) Basil & Lime was born. Vibrant, zesty and full of fresh basil. Delicious in any salad, heavenly over cooked chicken, and perfect as a fish marinade.
Berna’s Honey & Mustard Dressing originates from her punchy potato salad, baby new potatoes, mayonnaise and crispy pancetta finished with a decadent drizzle of dressing.
An honest dressing, creamy with bold flavours of honey, garlic and mustard. Great for classic green salads, glazing your Christmas ham and a quick marinade for steaks and sausages.
