Kelly’s is a proud family business founded more than 80 years ago by Dominic Kelly, whose name still stands over the door. His sons Seán and Seamus Kelly took the traditional recipes for black and white puddings, and sausages, and discovered they were popular well beyond Newport. They began selling through other shops and entering competitions. These family recipes have now won multiple awards and medals at home and abroad.
As the third generation (Kenneth & Cormac) have become involved, Kelly’s have spread their wings and made their products available around the country and in the UK. Now you can also buy the well loved Kelly’s products online, making them available to everyone.
Kelly’s are full service butchers firmly rooted in the local community. We specialise in black and white puddings and sausages made to the same secret recipe for generations. The puddings (and the traditional Putóg) are sold countrywide. The shop has a very personal connection with customers and is strongly identified with Seán Kelly. We have our own abattoir with an EU licence. This makes us true artisan butchers dealing with every aspect of butchering.
Our philosophy is very simple and is encapsulated in our motto “We make up to a standard not down to a price”. That’s how we run our business.
For us, it is all about the food – the quality of the ingredients. You can be sure that we will always source our meat locally where possible, and if it’s not local, it is always Irish. We do not buy in cheap meat from abroad. We’ll often be able to tell you what farm an animal came from and even what field it grazed in.
You can also be sure that every product which bears the Kelly’s brand is manufactured by us in Newport. We do not outsource manufacturing.
